Safety gear
Check jack fit, lifting points, wheel tools and the spare before a trip. Understand when roadside wheel changing is too dangerous.
1
Choose a jack approved for the vehicle and a spanner that correctly fits its wheel fasteners.
Only with verified suitability for the vehicle, lifting point, capacity and range. Similar appearance is not enough.
It may address only certain punctures under its instructions. It cannot repair every failure or establish that a damaged tyre is safe.
Do not add lubricant unless the vehicle maker specifically requires it. It can change the relationship between tightening torque and clamping force.
Resolve it with a competent workshop before travel. Improvised removal can damage the wheel or fastener and leave you unable to fit the spare.
